        In this exposition Dr. Nara explores the psychology of the dentist and of dentistry itself as practiced in the United States. The reader will quickly discover that one of the major sub-topics will be the relationship of preventive dentistry to the psychology of dentistry.

        It will be obvious that the author is biased in favor of preventive dentistry. "Bias," in this context, is pure understatement: as that bias is the child of total conviction.

        Ordinarily the author of what is politely called "an apology" for any particular viewpoint will ask that his readers bring an open mind to bear on what is written. We do not require our readers to begin with an open mind. We're going to blow it open for them.

        We suggest --and we believe we will demonstrate --that organized dentistry in the United States is perpetuating a hoax and a fraud on American citizens. If our premise is correct, there can only be one conclusion: The corporate mind of American Dentistry is at least irrational...if not unbalanced.

        As an individual, the reader undoubtedly hopes he is not part of this madness. But, as Alice discovered in Wonderland, "you can't help that."
