In a recent issue of a popular dental journal (Dental Management, September 1985) a letter to the editor stated:
"In a recent television interview, Dr. Sheldon Holen, associate professor of periodontics, at Howard University School of Dentistry, Washington, D.C., said that periodontal surgery was developed to make things easier for "clumsy" dentists, not for better therapeutic results."
It seems hard to believe that people who call themselves doctors are perpetrating such a ruthless hoax on an unsuspecting public... but the facts show, it's true. The scientific facts coming to light today prove that conservative methods are better than surgical treatments. In the same letter (above), the author stated: "in a study of 600 patients over a span of 20 years, Hirschfeld and Wasserman noted that cases treated conservatively fared as well as cases treated surgically."
With 30 years of experience in promoting self-help methods of controlling gum diseases, Dr. Robert Nara has empirical evidence to show that most people can completely stop gum infections and associated problems at home, without the expense and pain of a lot of "scraping of the roots," and/or "cutting of the gums."
In order to solve a problem, the first thing one must do is to understand the "problem." The biggest stumbling block to the public enjoying healthy teeth and gums is unfortunately... dentists! To help the public understand this, please read the following letter, written by a graduate student-dentist at a prestigous dental school.

Dear Sir,
My mother recently mailed me some information she has received out in California related to the People's Dental Association and products sold by Oramedics. Much of the "newsletter" seemed to be generated from the information you have provided. I am interested in some of the specific studies that you may have references for. Is there any information you can give me that I can check sources on for the following statements: That cavities (not incipient decay) can remineralize in a healthy mouth. That irrigation of periodontal pockets will remove toxins in sufficient amounts to allow for a healing process to occur (in the absence of surgical intervention). That calculus will redissolve in a healthy mouth (the implied corrollary, calculus formation is an indication of altered salivary function due to oral bacterial toxins). That foaming toothpastes burn tissue in a physiologically verifiable manner.Although I must consider myself a mainstream dentist, I would like to believe I have an open mind. Therefore I would like to read further information you may be aware of that I am unaware of at this time. The main thrust of the newsletter that I read seemed to be proper oral hygiene, I agree that good oral hygiene is the most important facet of proper dental care. But am uncomfortable with the suggestion that one technique of home care is the only way to achieve dental health and that other techniques are not useful at all. Possibly I misread the material. I look forward to your reply providing me with references I can evaluate in an objective manner.
Sincerely yours,
Name omitted (to protect the guilty) Fellow in Pathology
It is readily apparent that young dentists simply, "do not understand what is going on." Their education is 100% mechanical...and financial. Dr. Nara thoroughly documents this fact in his book: "Money by the Mouthful". If you have not read this explosive new book, and you want to keep your teeth, and your money, please do yourself a favor...procure a copy (available from the People's Dental Association) and read it!
The following letter was prepared as an answer to the above dentist's letter.
October 30, 1985 School of Dentistry Department of PathologyWe also received a letter from a frustrated "patient", Mr. Nicholson...Dear Dr.
Thank you for your recent letter.
It is quite interesting to me that you are in a PhD program in Pathology (the study of disease), and yet you seem to know very little about the natural healing processes of the mouth. It would seem that your training is preoccupied with disease to the point that you and your professors have forgotten the most important thing that doctors of all kinds should be doing... helping the body to heal itself. By the time you finally graduate you'll know all the diseases A to Z but what good is that when you won't know how to really help people?
Please study carefully the article from American Health...*
I hope that before you have wasted any more of your time in learning more and more about less and less until you know everything about nothing (definition of a specialist), that you read our book The 180 Degree Theory (enclosed complimentary copy). This book relates that you are on the right track but are going the wrong way. I believe it would do you a lot of good. (You mentioned that you "like to believe that you have an open mind".)
I would also like to suggest that you read carefully my short article called "The Missing Link" if you agree with my thinking then I will be happy to try to educate you as to what it is that you really need to know to become a TRUE DOCTOR...if not then let's not waste each other's time.
Sincerely,
Robert O. Nara, D.D.S.
September 23. 1985This gentleman understands the problem, he just needs help in knowing what to do about it. Here's what Dr. Nara had to say:Dear Dr, Nara:
I have just read with great interest the reprint I asked for from Mother Earth News. A close friend suggested I read the article before I had dental surgery performed on my upper and lower back teeth as well as my front upper and lower teeth. All that you say in the article makes a great deal of sense.
As far as my dental history goes, I have seen a dentist every six months for my entire life. As my Father was generous enough to spend a large amount of money on braces and regular dental care I did all in my power to insure that my teeth would last a lifetime. Recently, I was told by my present dentist that I should have my teeth checked by a specialist. I took his advice and was told in a rather curt manner that I would need about $2000 - $3000 in dental care to correct the problem that was developing in my mouth. He went on to say that if it wasn't done quickly I would begin to lose my teeth. Well as you might imagine I was really shocked, not only by the prognosis, but his take it or leave it attitude. I got a second and third opinion and came up with the same result. It seems that the only way I can save my teeth is to have this expensive surgery, that may disfigure my mouth se well. Also, as a small business owner I really don't have $3000.00 to spend on a set of teeth that neither hurt me or seem to be problematic.
I would like to try your method if you are still accepting patients. Please send me the proper form and I will send it back with a check in the amount your organization specifies. I will work on your program and I look forward to starting as soon as you tell me what I need to do. A surgeon's scalpel doesn't appeal to me unless it's a very last resort.
Don't let the bastards get you down. Thanks for providing a sensible alternative to the knife.
Respectfully,
G. J. Guthrie Nicholson III President
Isn't it amazing that of many years of having the "best"
dentistry has to offer, that $3,000.00 must be spent for
gum surgery?
The Department of Health and Human Services has published
data showing that Whites and Blacks have the same number
of missing teeth at age 65. White folks spend 10 to 20 times more
money on dentistry than blacks but are no better off when
it comes to keeping their teeth. Therefore, it appears that,
as in Mr. Nicholson's case, all of this money, pain,
inconvenience, etc. is all for NOTHING!
As I've tried to tell people for over 30 years - doctors do not control disease - people do!
Self-help (staying healthy) methods are readily available, easy and inexpensive. All that you need to know is...how! That's where Oramedics International comes in. Oramedics International is the only organization on the face of the earth that offers this necessary knowledge. It has been our experience that once people have the knowledge they WANT to TAKE ACTION.
This action gets almost guaranteed results. I don't dislike dentists but I am trying very hard to put them out of business.
Once the public has this knowledge, the thinking individual will want to put this knowledge to use...ACTION.
The equation is simple: Knowledge = Action = Health
This is the simplest way to eliminate the dentist from your
life, while retaining beautiful healthy teeth, with no expense,
no pain, and no fear.
